Thammasat University, Lampang Campus

        Thammasat University, Lampang Campus, covers an area of 364 rai, is located about 15 kilometers away from the city of Lampang. It is one of 4 educational campuses of Thammasat University, including Tha Prachan, Rangsit Campus, Pattaya Campus and Lampang Campus. Lampang Campus began establishing itself in the academic year of 1992. Initially, the university had seriously considered the expansion of education to the region. Therefore, the Faculty of Political Science had requested the cooperation of public and private sectors in Lampang Province in order to expand the Master's degree of Politics and Government (MPE) to Lampang for the first time. By recognizing the readiness and appropriateness of Lampang Province as a center for educational development in the northern region in 1996, the Ministry of University Affairs at that time had a policy to expand quality educational opportunities into the region in the form of a campus expansion project. Along with project development information network for educational development using modern technology, therefore, Thammasat University Council agreed to implement the Thammasat University Project, Lampang Campus, on July 8, 1996.

        Firstly, the university was allowed to use the former Lampang City Hall (Lampang Museum now). It was renovated into a teaching and learning facility. With the first generation of students in the 1998 academic year having to travel to study at Thammasat University Rangsit Campus first. Later, in the academic year 1999, Lampang Campus began to admit students. The first branch of Social Administration came to study in Lampang. And then, another program named the College of Interdisciplinary Studies was opened.

        Later, Thammasat University, Lampang Campus urgently required to provide a permanent space for the construction of a school building to support teaching, learning, and promoting skills for various activities of additional students as well. Therefore, at that time, Mr. Boonchoo Treethong, Minister of University Affairs, gave courtesy to Thammasat University by donating some land at Pong Yang Khok Subdistrict, Hang Chat District, Lampang Province, in the amount of 364 rai 3 ngan 79 square wah, including fund donation of 62,472,650 baht for the construction of the first school building. The construction of the building for management and teaching began in 2000 with the royal grace of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Her Royal Highness laid the foundation stone and the first building was completed in 2003. Thammasat University, therefore, requested the right of naming the building and received the royal permission to use the name "Sirintharat". Thammasat University, Lampang Campus has moved for teaching to the current location since the second semester of the academic year 2003.

 

Student Dormitories

  • - Student dormitory "Dome 1" (Female dormitory) can accommodate 376 students. There is a reading room. Coin-operated washing machines and free internet access are also available in rooms. Common rooms provide amenities such as refrigerators and microwaves.
  • - The "Dome 2" student dormitory (female and male dormitory) can accommodate up to 404 students. There are reading rooms and common rooms with facilities such as refrigerators, microwaves and minimarts which opens from 7:00 am to 02:00 pm. Coin-operated washing machines are also available.
  • - Student dormitory "Dome 3" (female dormitory) can accommodate 314 students, all air-conditioned rooms There is a reading room and a Common Room with amenities such as refrigerators, microwaves, and coin-operated washing machines.

The property management office also arranges more various activities for dormitory students, such as New Year's Day, orientation for dormitory students, field trips etc.

How to travel from Thammasat University to the city center of Lampang Province

  1. Currently, the university has arranged a welfare bus for students. The fare is 15 baht per person, about 16 times a day (may be adjusted as appropriate) by parking - transfer at the University intersection, Big C Department Store, Central Department Store, Sri Chum Junction, Boonyawat Witthayalai School and the Lampang Museum.
  2. There is a minibus queue in front of Sirinthararat Building The fare is 25-30 baht per person, or the whole car could be rent for an agreed price.

Currently, Thammasat University, Lampang Center has approximately 2,000 students, 100 lecturers and 100 teaching support staff. There are also 6 faculties and 8 curricula as follows:
